KEY LIME PIE RECIPE WITH HOMEMADE WHIPPED CREAM

Key Lime Pie Recipe:


Description: A classic, tart, and creamy pie that lets fresh lime shine, she’ll make a pie thief come out of the woodwork, so beware, and guard yours closely!


Ingredients for Crust:

1½ cups graham cracker crumbs

⅓ cup sugar

6 tablespoons melted salted butter


Directions for Crust:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 

2. Combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. 

3. Press firmly into a 9-inch pie plate. 

4. Bake crust for 8 minutes and let cool slightly. 


Ingredients for Filling:

1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

3 egg yolks

½ cup fresh lime juice

Zest of 1 lime


Directions for Filling: 

  1. Whisk condensed milk, egg yolks, lime juice, and zest until smooth. 

  2. Pour filling into prepared crust and bake 15 minutes until just set. 

  3. Cool completely before adding homemade whipped cream dollops to the top.


Ingredients for Homemade Whipped Cream:

1 Cup cold heavy cream

2 Tablespoons granulated sugar

1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1 Lime thinly sliced for decoration on each dollop of fresh whipped cream


Directions for Homemade Whipped Cream:

  1. In large mixing bowl, add 1 cup heavy cream.

  2. With electric mixer, beat on medium then increase speed to high until cream forms soft peaks. 

  3. Add vanilla and sugar and beat 1-2 minutes more.

  4. Dollop over completely cooled pie.

  5. Slice 1 lime thinly, putting each piece on top of dolloped whipped cream.

Cook Time: 23 minutes
